    Our waterproof jewellery

Our beautiful jewelry is made mostly of high-quality 316L stainless steel, also known as surgical steel, and has been finished with a gorgeous 18k gold plating. We also have a fabulous selection of 925 Sterling Silver jewelery which is also finished with a stunning 18k gold plating.

Do you want to know what makes our jewelry so special? Our necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings are designed to be waterproof so you can wear them with peace of mind. And to ensure that your RUYELA jewelery always stays sparkling, we have some tips for you on how to protect it from tarnishing and discolouration.

    What is waterproof?

Our jewelry at RUYELA is something very special because it is waterproof! Our secret weapon is high-quality 316L stainless steel, also known as stainless steel. This material is not only strong and resilient, but also hypoallergenic, meaning it will not cause allergies. So you can wear our jewelry all day long without hesitation, even while showering! And best of all, the 18k gold plating on our stainless steel jewelry stays durable and sparkling.

Our pieces of jewelery made of 925 sterling silver are also something special. They have a gorgeous sheen that enchants everyone. Although silver can tarnish over time, we've applied an extra coating to slow it down. If you wear the jewelry regularly, it may tarnish easily over time. But no worry! With a silver cleaning cloth or a silver bath you can make it shine again in no time at all.

Enjoy our waterproof jewelry and don't worry about it losing its shine!

Can I go into the sea with the jewelry?

This is possible with our stainless steel jewelry! Stainless steel is a tough material that can withstand salt water. However, it is always advisable to remove jewelry before swimming in the sea. But if you forget to take it off, that's no problem. Our stainless steel jewelry, including the gold plated jewelry, is strong enough to withstand the salt water. However, to keep your jewelry sparkling, we recommend rinsing it in fresh water after a sea swim to remove any salt residue.

Sterling silver jewelry is a bit more delicate. So it is better to take them off before swimming in salt water as the salt can attack the silver and gold plating. However, if you happen to forget to take the jewelry off, rhodium plating offers some protection to the sterling silver. However, keep in mind that regular contact with salt water can reduce the protection of the rhodium plating.

Can I go in the pool with the jewelry?

Care should be taken with pool water, as the chlorine it contains can attack and damage your jewelry. However, in small amounts, such as those found in thermal or private pools, the chlorine does not affect our stainless steel jewelry. Gold plated or not, you can still wear your jewelry as long as you rinse it thoroughly with non-chlorine water afterwards.

You should be a little more careful with jewelery made of 925 sterling silver and better take it off before swimming in chlorinated water. This will prevent the chlorine from attacking the material and damaging the gilding.

    Jewelry care tip

We have some tips for you to prevent your jewelry from tarnishing or discoloration:

    • Keep your jewelry away from cosmetics: direct contact with perfume and creams can damage the jewelry materials. So wear them first and then put on your jewellery.
    • Take off your jewelry when exercising: Sweat can also affect jewelry, and when exercising, it can quickly become a nuisance. If you put it down beforehand, you protect it and protect the material.
    • Clean your jewelry regularly: Over time, dirt, dander, and dust can accumulate on your jewelry. It is therefore advisable to clean your jewelry regularly. Check out our jewelry care guide for tips on cleaning.
    • Keep your jewelry protected: To protect your jewelry from air and light, it is best to store it in a closed jewelry box such as our jewelry boxes. Check out our guide for jewelry storage inspiration and tips.

We would also like to mention that some of our jewelry is decorated with pearls or zirconia stones. Our freshwater pearls are unique in their natural and irregular shape. They can be worn in the water, but they may lose some of their shine with regular exposure to water. Chlorine can attack the mother-of-pearl surface, so pearl jewelry should be left in the swimming pool.

Cubic zirconia stones are synthetic crystals made of zirconium oxide and resemble real diamonds in appearance. Jewelry with zirconia stones is waterproof because water cannot damage them.

With these tips, you can keep your jewelry shiny and beautiful for longer.
